Sintra is a beautiful city full of history, art, nature and gardens. It is located in a privileged place in the Natural Park of Sintra-Cascais, in a mountain area with sea views and a unique climate. In fact, the Villa and the Sintra Mountains were declared World Cultural Heritage Site in 1995 by the UNESCO. As you know, last summer I was visiting Lisbon and Sintra tour was a «must go». And to see everything I had to go twice!. The first timewas with an organized group and I visited the most iconic palaces, and although there were not many gardens I wanted to share the visit with you. Are you coming ?

The Pena Palace, or the Palace of the Rock, is one of the best exponents of Romantic and Mannerist architecture of nineteenth century  in Portugal. It was built on a old Monastery of the Jeronimos bought and reformed by King Ferdinand II. The colours used and the architectural and decorative resources create a magical and unique set in the world. You can see the history of the Palace in detail on their website at this link .

In the town of Sintra, in the same urban area , you can visit the Vila Palace of Sintra, a construction from the eleventh century that has become a palace which was adapted to the times and keeps its shape from the mid-sixteenth century. Noted for its two large fireplaces and tiles.

Here in this link you can remember all the gardentours I’ve already posted and I still missing . I hope they’d be helpful if you have planned to go to Lisbon or Sintra on holiday or to the Champions League final in June!

Thank you very much for your comments and happy weekend!
