I do not quite understand how such a pretty and delicate garden is so little known. Maybe that’s part of its charm. It is in one of the most popular parks in London’s Regent ‘s Park.
Do you remember that Regent ‘s Park was designed by John Nash with an inner circle around the luxurious and exclusive mansions which would be built? So, this is one of two that were built, with The Holmes.
The mansion was built between 1812 and 1819 and was a project of John Ruffield. The garden, however, was a later design of the Scottish architect Robert Weir Shultz. It was intended as a garden for the silence, stillness and meditation. Includes ideas «Arts & Crafts » movement of the nineteenth century, which highlights the close relationship between the house and the garden, and the great interest in classical forms .
The garden opened in 1928 and in 1994 were carried out restoration work for the environment of the late nineteenth century. Today residence and garden belongi to the family of the Sultan of Brunei.
